H2STUDENT – THE FIRST SLOVENIAN PROGRAM FOR YOUTH COMPETENCIES WITH HYDROGEN

H2STUDENT is a unique, free educational competition program, which takes place within the infrastructure project “Corridor of Emission-Free Mobility of Slovenia,” led by ECUBES TEHNOLOGIJE d.d., with the support of MITSUBISHI POWER EUROPE, Toyota Adria, and many other partners.
The H2STUDENT program, which is gaining more and more support in the environment, was created based on the successfully implemented Hydrogen Zero Emission Mobility & Education Roadshow, conducted by the English company ECUBES ARCOLA, during the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia.
The H2STUDENT program was implemented for the first time in the 2019/20 season in Slovenia and Croatia. The program, which covers the entire educational vertical – from pre-school, primary schools through secondary schools, all the way to the university, was more than well-received, as the program educated over 1,200 students. Children in primary schools drew on sustainable mobility topics, and in secondary schools, we carried out the “Educational competition part with hydrogen cars made of Lego bricks.
At ECUBES, we are very ambitious to continue implementing the program. As there is a lack of competencies in this field in Europe, we want the H2STUDENT program to:

  • contribute to achieving the 2030 Agenda pipeline; hydrogen technologies and green hydrogen will be vital in achieving these goals, so linking renewables to zero-emission transport is a fundamental task for a low-carbon socie
  • to promote hydrogen and emission-free transport to young and future generations and inspire them for hydrogen and education in this direction.

Competence growth is one of Europe’s critical areas to achieve the goals set out in Agenda 2030. And that is the mission of the H2STUDENT education program.

Clean energy education now opens up additional opportunities for a carbon-neutral circular economy in Slovenia – as defined in AGENDA 2030, as part of the global green future, the hydrogen ecosystem, and the hydrogen society.

On 8 July 2020, the European Commission published its latest strategy on integrated energy systems and the European strategy on hydrogen, which is just one of the confirmations that the H2STUDENT program was set up correctly and on the right track with its vision and expectations of European society. And not only that, as part of the 23rd Slovenian Energy Days, the H2STUDENT program was also declared for the best promotional Slovenian project in the EEU / RES category for 2020.
